It's never good to get too excited about a pilot in the works, but with talent like this behind the camera, go for it. Deadline reports that Spike Lee, John Ridley, Entourage producer Doug Ellin and Mike Tyson are teaming up for Da Brick, a new project that is loosely based on the life of Tyson.
Ridley wrote the pilot script, and Lee will direct. Brick (which is set in Newark, NJ, natch) will tell the story of an up and coming boxer, and double as commentary on what growing up as an African-American youth in the U.S. means. Casting is underway now, with a premium placed on whether or not the perspective hire can be believable in a boxing ring. Like we said: Get excited.
