Already one of the busiest guys in Hollywood, Mark Wahlberg has begun early talks with Allen Hughes for a possible collaboration, titled Broken City.
Deadline reports that the film will find Wahlberg playing an ex-cop turned private detective who's hired by a mayor to uncover possible infidelity. When the mayor's wife's lover ends up dead, the private eye becomes deeply embroiled in the politician's scandalous affairs.
Hughes, who has yet to make a film without his brother, Albert (together, they've directed films such as Menace II Society, Dead Presidents, and The Book Of Eli), plans on shooting Broken City by his lonesome. Emmett/Furla Films has financed a $60 million budget for the drama, which is in "early going," according to both Wahlberg and Hughes' reps.
In the meantime, Wahlberg already has Contraband, a remake of Reykjavik-Rotterdam (considerd to be Iceland's greatest drug-smuggling film ever) wrapped up, awaiting a March 16, 2012 release. And he's currently filming Ted, a hilarious film about a grown man's relationship with his foul-mouthed teddy bear. Family Guy creator Seth McFarlane will voice the bear, portray it via full motion capture, and direct.
