It looks like the FX pilot for Powers has found its male lead. Deadline reports that the graphic novel adaptation has cast Jason Patric opposite the recently hired Lucy Punch for the show, which would mark Patric's first television series were it to get picked up.
Based on the graphic novel by Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming, Powers is a "police procedural set in a world where superpowers are relatively common." Kinda like The Incredibles, but not really.
Patric is familiar with highly anticipated pilots that don't work; he starred on Tilda last year, an HBO pilot about a Hollywood blogger with Diane Keaton and Ellen Page, but the show never made it to series. Perhaps he signed onto Powers because buddy Keifer Sutherland told him good things about TV while they were backstage at the Broadway play That Championship Season. Fingers crossed this one works out better than the last one.
