There have been several different actresses in line to headline the film version of Seth Grahame-Smith's genre mashup novel Pride and Prejudice And Zombies, yet it seems that Emma Stone may soon become quite the authority on the undead. The charming redhead (who is actually a natural blonde) is reportedly up to do battle with the flesh-eating brain-monsters in director Craig Gillespie's dark comedy film.

The adaptation of the parody novel has had some issues getting off the ground over the past several months. Natalie Portman, Mia Wasikowska, and Anne Hathaway were all, at one point, linked to the project. And a series of directors, such as David O. Russell and Mike White, had come and gone through a revolving door until Lionsgate settled on Gillespie, the shotcaller behind this summer's Fright Night remake.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Stone will play Elizabeth Bennet, a young English lass whose search for love and independence is complicated by the sudden appearance of pesky flesheaters. Unlike her work in Zombieland, she'll get to wear 19th-century clothing this time around.

Before we get to see her slay zombies, though, Stone, who has caused quite a stir in Hollywood since killing it in last year's Easy A, will star alongside her new boy-toyAndrew Garfield as Gwen Stacy in next year's The Amazing Spider-Man, scheduled for July 3, 2012.
