So when researchers at Japan's Showa University were looking to make a robot for dental students to practice on, who did they turn to to get the flesh, particularly that of the mouth and tongue, just right? Why a sex doll manufacturer, of course.
Orient Industries, the company's leading producer of "love dolls," collaborated with the university to create a silicone exoskeleton that looks, feels and responds to stimuli like the real thing. The result is thoroughly creepy, but somehow impressive. See for yourself in the video above.
