With the next James Bond film currently in its early development stages Bond 23, word is breaking that sexy English actress Naomie Harris is leading the field of hopefuls vying for the much coveted Bond Girl role.

Last night, Entertainment Weekly confirmed an earlier report from the British tabloid News Of The World that Harris is in contention for the part, receiving confirmation from an Eon Productions spokesperson that she has met with producers about taking the role. Daniel Craig and Judi Dench are reprising their roles as James Bond and M, respectively, while director Sam Mendes (American Beauty, Revolutionary Road) is on board to call the shots. If Harris does take the part, she'll take over as lady co-lead duties most recently handled by Olga Kurylenko in 2008's Quantum of Solace and Eva Green in 2006's smash hit Casino Royale.

Add this to the news that No Country For Old Menkiller, and possible star of The Dark Tower, Javier Bardem could play the film's villain, and 007's next flick is shaping up to be another banger.

The still untitled, 23rd James Bond film is on track for a November 9, 2012 release.
