Paul Feig sure is one tricky devil, and we love him for it! We reported yesterday about his plans to reunite Bridesmaids stars Jon Hamm and Melissa McCartney for a new romantic comedy movie, but in an interview with Moviehole, he said something that piqued our interests.
"There's actually something in the fall that...is a sequel to a movie that people know but I can't really talk about it yet; we're still trying to finalize it. It's something I've wanted to do with some actors I've wanted to work with," Feig confessed.
The mystery project, a "reboot" of a well-known franchise, has been deemed "top secret" by producing partner Judd Apatow. But as always, the tweets are watching.
/Film reported that a relatively unknown screenwriter Rick Rapiertweeted earlier this week about interest in his sequel to Ferris Bueller's Day Off. He wrote, "Wish I could tweet names of ppl reading my #FerrisBueller sequel. Your jaw would drop. I'm stoked! Plz keep a good thot."
The screenplay, which picks up with the school-ditching gang 20 years later, was shopped around Hollywood with little to no applause. Ferris (originally played by Matthew Broderick), his best friend, and now business partner Cameron (Alan Ruck) are now in the motivational speaking business with Rooney (Deadwood's Jeffrey Jones) still stalking from afar.
We'll just have to wait and see what breaks, but seeing how Hollywood is already planning big budget films for action figures, children's toys, and the like, at least give us something to twist and shout about!
