50. TRON: Legacy (2010)

Director: Joseph Kosinski
Starring: Jeff Bridges, Garrett Hedlund, Olivia Wilde, Michael Sheen, Bruce Boxleitner, James Frain

How much cash do you think the screenwriters behind last year's long-awaited, and lukewarmly received, TRON: Legacy made? Whatever number is floating through your head, it's definitely a few zeros too large, because, having seen this all looks/little brains disappointment, we're pretty sure that a couple of chimps could've penned the script. Albeit, chimps that love video games and thumping techno beats.

Although a few of TRON's original stars (namely Jeff Bridges) return, and the storyline sufficiently connects to the first movie, TRON: Legacy sacrifices a coherent plot and multidimensional characters for top-of-the-line effects and rousing action sequences. Admittedly, director Joseph Kosinski delivers a tremendous visual experience, aided by some scene-stealing electronic music scored by Daft Punk.

But Kosinski's superficial achievements are all for naught, no thanks to a bland leading man (Garrett Hedlund), Jeff Bridges phoning it in as cyber version of The Dude, and that aforementioned script. Not even the sight of Olivia Wilde's body concealed in tight black latex could muster any arousal. OK, maybe some.
