Besides being the creator of The X-Men, The Incredible Hulk, and Iron Man, Stan Lee has an entire side hustle in which makes cameos in most of the movies featuring Marvel Comics characters. While it'll come as little surprise to hear he'll be making a cameo in Marc Webb's The Amazing Spider-Man, the truly interesting part comes when Stan describes his role in one of the 2012 reboot's big action setpieces (SPOILER ALERT).
Over the weekend at Dallas Comic Con, a Coming Soon reader recorded Lee talking about his role in the Andrew Garfield-starring superhero flick during a panel discussion (which you can see in the video below). Here's what he said:
"There's a big battle going on with Spider-Man and the Lizard in the library. I'm the librarian. And I'm stamping books. I'm just stamping books, and I have earphones on, and I'm listening to music. This life and death battle is going on behind me, but I don't know it, I don't hear them. That's what it is. It looks so funny and I look so dumb."
Audiences have already seen Mr. Lee's mug once this summer, in Kenneth Branagh's Thor, and he'll be popping up again in the Chris Evans led Captain America: The First Avenger. We should also note that he does not turn up in Fox's X-Men: First Class, which comes out next Friday, June 3.
The Amazing Spider-Man, which features The Social Network's Garfield as Spider-Man, Emma Stone, and Rhys Ifan as Dr. Curt Connors/The Lizard, will swing into theaters on July 3, 2012.
