Just when Sony thought its online networks were safe, the company's Japanese online music service gets hacked.
The Inquirer is reporting that a hacker group known as Lulz Security launched an SQL injection attack which exposed user information in SonyMusic.co.jp.
Chester Wisniewski, a senior security advisor at Sophos, says that the database info that was accessed did not contain "names, passwords or other personally identifiable information." Also, that the "attackers noted that there are two other databases on the site that are vulnerable and it remains unclear whether they contain sensitive information."
Lulz Security supposedly attacks sites for fun and not with the intention of stealing credit card and financial information.
Last weekend, Sony BMG Greece's online service was hacked using the same SQL injection attack.
The attacks on Sony are getting ridiculous at this point. It looks like the company needs to implement a complete overhaul of its online services so users aren't constantly left vulnerable.
