As #thefirerises for Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight Rises, it looks like the Inception director is intent on building a layered cast. The latest faces to join Gotham City have just been announced: Matthew Modine, Tom Conti, and Joey King all have been added to the growing bat-ensemble.

Modine, best known for playing Private Joker in Stanley Kubrick's Full Metal Jacket, has spent his time working on small indie movies and his own shorts these days. Most recently, he popped up alongside Jason Statham in Transporter 2. According to Variety, he'll play a character called "Nixon," and, true to Nolan's fashion, specific character details are being kept under lock and key for now.

Even less is known about the roles filled by Conti and King, but even the smallest roles can be pivotal in Nolan's universe. With shooting now underway, the sprawling production spans the globe, filming in India, England, Scotland, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh, and New York. The hype continues to become massive after The Dark Knight Rises kicked off its viral campaign showing off Tom Hardy as the villain, Bane. There's also a rumor creeping around the web that a teaser trailer could premiere alongside Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallow Part 2 on July 15.

The cast already includes the aforementioned Hardy, Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, Anne Hathaway, and Juno Temple. The film will be out on July 20 next year.
