The famed UK-based literary quarterly, Granta, has the launch party for its latest issue this Wednesday at Paragraph. Each issue of Granta is organized around a theme and this issue's theme is "The F Word." They already had their "Sex" issue last year, so you'll need to guess again. If you look at the list of contributors you'll note that all are women. Got it yet?
Issue 115 of Granta explores feminism as a complicating factor in the balance of power in the world, a balance we all know is not tipped in favor of women. At the launch party, editors John Freeman and Patrick Ryan along with contributors Julie Otsuka and Francine Prose will discuss the issue, which features work from Edwidge Danticat, Lydia Davis, A.S. Byatt, Téa Obreht, and many other great writers.
