We've been seeing clues about it, but today IO Interactive and Square Enix officially announced that Hitman Absolution is in development for 2012. The game utilizes IO's new proprietary Glacier 2 technology—no word on whether it's an actual graphics engine or just a system within a pre-existing engine. Either way, it sounds a whole lot like DICE's Frostbite 2 to us. Of course, Agent 47 isn't so big on destructible environments...unless by "environments" you mean "people's skulls". IO released a teaser trailer to go along with the announcement, and while it's about as revealing as a Victorian era nightgown, we have a feeling we'll be seeing a bit more of things come E3 next month.
Guess Who's Back? "Hitman Absolution" Is Official
