Fishbone was one of the strangest bands that existed within the so-called “alternative” movement of the '90s, even though they'd been around far longer than many of their peers. Moving from metal to ska to funk, with a little bit of pop appeal in between, the band straddled so many genres that they seemed to back themselves into a corner. And the bizarre antics of frontman Angelo Moore didn’t make it their music any easier for listeners to swallow.
Regardless, Fishbone do make for an interesting documentary subject, especially when their unique story of growing up in South Compton and forming a band of misfits gets told from the beginning. The film features tons of interviews with L.A. scene kings and some unique archival footage.
