Not to be outdone by Barnes & Noble's new Nook, Amazon just announced a cheaper version of its 3G Kindle, shaving $25 off the standard $189 by incorporating ads or "special offers" on the device. Other than the new ads, the new Kindle appears to be exactly the same as the original 3G version.
An ad-supported wi-fi version of the Kindle was introduced earlier this year for $114, the cheapest and best-selling Kindle available.
