Who Should Play James Brown In His Biopic?

Usher, Eddie Murphy, and yes, Chris Brown are all in the mix to play the Godfather of Soul.

None

James Brown's life was the stuff made for the big screen. But who is fit to play the Godfather of Soul in his planned Paramount and Imagine Entertainment biopic to be directed by Spike Lee? According to his daughter, Dr. Yamma Brown (interviewed above by Artisan News), Eddie Murphy, Chris Brown, and Usher.

"We have talked to several people," says Brown. "Eddie Murphy being one of them. In a comedic role, I guess it would have to be Eddie, who would do Dad justice. I think Usher, more so than anybody, holds near and dear to our family. My dad coined him the Godson Of Soul. He's a family friend, we just love him, and we are possibly thinking about him for the biopic—so you never know."

But the name surely to make you scratch your head is the ever-embattled pop singer Chris Brown. After being wowed by the Virginia native's interpretation of James Brown's "Night Train" at the Grammy Awards, daughter Yamma "thought he was wonderful," but it's something we don't really see happening.

With such a seemingly lackluster roster to chose from and Spike's incessant decision to have the lead actor lip sync to the Godfather's iconic songs, do you see this project gettin' on the good foot? Let us know below.
