We know, we know—the above video was too quick for you to enjoy it thoroughly. But with the first trailer for Rise of the Planet of the Apes prepped for a Thursday release, Fox has released a quick glimpse of what the film's simians will look like, courtesy of WETA, the digital visual effects company founded by Peter Jackson.

There's not much motion in this brief four-second clip, but the level of detail is hard not to notice, and it's a nice departure from the "man in a monkey suit" stylings of Tim Burton's atrocious 2001 remake of the 1968 sci-fi classic Planet Of The Apes.

The newly re-imagined take of the classic film series stars James Franco, Freida Pinto, John Lithgow, Brian Cox, and Andy Serkis (who plays main ape Ceasar). Rupert Wyatt (The Escapist) will direct. Rise of the Planet of the Apes is due out on August 5th.
