Trailer Park: "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" (Directed by Michael Bay)

Those alien robots, and Bay, really aren't playing around this time.

After two mediocre teasers, Paramount has finally unwrapped the first official trailer for Transformers: Dark of the Moon, the third installment of Michael Bay's Transformers franchise. And let us say the heavily hated upon director was certainly on a mission to prove himself.

Unlike Bay's first sequel, Transformers: Revenge Of The Fallen, where the storyline was all over the place and the wide-eyed fun of 2007's Transformers was gone, this upcoming adventure channels a much larger direction. We’re shown an Independence Day-style full-out invasion from the Decepticons, a skyscraper getting torn into a 90-degree angle by a gigantic robot with tentacles sprawling from its core, an army of spaceships spraying lasers on the streets, and Decepticon goons popping out of all directions. Popcorn movie status cemented.

The returning cast members are all accounted for, and Megan Fox’s replacement, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, looks gorgeous. But let us not forget, we lost a lot of faith in Bay after watching Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Its many faults, including semi-racist jokes, made us regret the loot we dropped. And this time, the Autobots will defend humanity in 3D (more money!). So far, not many besides James Cameron have made the funny four-eyed film experience a worthy ride, and we’re not really counting on Bay to be an exception.

Will Transformers: Dark Of The Moon be worth your money?  We'll all find out come July 1.
