Black comedies with perverse plots are always welcome around here, and The Perfect Host seems to fall into that category.
English actor Nathaniel Parker plays a cunning professional criminal who discreetly enters the home of David Hyde Pierce’s character after a crime goes sour. Though Pierce (of Frasier fame) looks like a chump, and he initially gets pushed around by a kitchen knife, it turns out that he’s actually an off-the-wall lunatic with toned-down Patrick Bateman-like tendencies.
The idea of flipping the script on a criminal, and fucking him over by drugging him and whooping his ass along with houseguests, sounds bizarre yet also fun. And Pierce looks like a perfect, if not unexpected fit. Consider us ready to check this once it hits limited theaters on July 1 (or earlier, since it'll be available On Demand starting on May 27).
