Trailer Park: “Terri” (Starring John C. Reilly & Jacob Wysocki)

A high school teen dramedy that actually looks good.

Amongst the films from this year's Sundance Film Festival that we’d like to see, Terri is certainly on the northern tip of our list.

In the indie comedy's new trailer, we’re introduced to the always welcome John C. Reilly (Cyrus, Step Brothers) as a high school principal attempting to crack down on an obese student (newcomer Jacob Wysocki), named Terri. Just when it seems like Terri will be a more tolerable version of the awful Mr. Woodcock, with Reilly’'s character acting as a cocky authority over Wysocki, the tone lightens and Reilly takes on a positive mentor role.

Though the trailer has various moments we’ve seen in countless other teen dramedies (an unattractive female falling for the awkward lead, for example), the highly believable characters and the carefree acting makes Terri seem like it'll be a healthy alternative to this summer's stylized action bonanzas.

Directed by Azazel Jacobs, and produced by the folks behind Blue Valentine and Half Nelson, Terri hits theaters in limited release on July 1.
