The network brings both laughs and conspiracy to televisions this fall.

Sometimes buzzed about pilots do get to go to series. Showtime announced today via press release that it picked up 12-episode seasons of both House of Lies and Homeland, with eyes on debuting them in the fall.

Homeland—which co-stars Claire Danes and Damian Lewis—is described as a "psychological thriller" set in the world of the CIA. Sounds ominous and just a little bit like 24, which is expected since 24 creator Howard Gordon wrote the pilot.

As for House of Lies, the half-hour comedy series is adapted from the best-selling book House of Lies: How Management Consultants Steal Your Watch and Tell You the Time by Martin Kihn. Lies focuses on a consultant team led by Don Cheadle and Kristen Bell. You're probably going to want to clear some DVR space for that one.
