With Colin Farrell tagged as the protagonist in the Len Wiseman-directed remake of Total Recall, and Bryan Cranston set as the bad guy, now it's time to pick the smoking hot females. There are two big female roles to cast: Lori, the main character's wife (originally played by Sharon Stone), and the beautiful resistance fighter Melina (first played by Rachel Ticotin). Variety says that Jessica Biel is circling one of the two roles, but no word as to which one she'll be portraying.

Sony Pictures may be close to landing its female lead and has offered Biel a role but no discussions are under way.

In the 1990 original, directed by Paul Verhoeven and starring Arnold Schwarzenegger, Douglas Quaid takes a virtual vacation and ends up convinced that he's a secret agent on a Martian colony. The revised plot omits any mention of Mars at all, focusing instead on the original Philip K. Dick story We Can Remember It For You Wholesale by highlighting the conflict between nation states "Euromerica" and "New Shanghai."

The only character that has any concrete info is Cranston's role as Vilos Cohaagen, "the leader of Euromerica who, under the cover of protecting his people, is secretly readying an invasion of New Shanghai." But with Farrell's penchant for giving the chutzpah to female celebrities, is it only a matter of time before Jessica is the latest to fall for the Irish actor's charms?

Total Recall shoots soon in Toronto; the film is already pegged to open in theaters on August 3, 2012.
