The long-awaited web series MK: Legacy debuted today with its 12-minute inaugural episode. The plot features Sonya Blade—played by Jeri Ryan—getting captured by her nemesis Kano; it’s up to her friend and colleague Jax (Michael Jai White), to save her. Like the original Mortal Kombat: Rebirth trailer that spawned the series, it is directed by Kevin Tancharoen—and while the first episode of Legacy is a snoozefest compared to the wall-to-wall action of the Rebirth trailer, we have faith that the web series is merely taking the time to lay some foundation before it unleashes the epic brutality that fans are pining for.
