Will Smith and Josh Brolin lead the cast of the third installment of the sci-fi/comedy sequel Men In Black 3, but they're being joined by a notable gangster. Michael Stuhlbarg, one of the key cast members on HBO's Boardwalk Empire and the star of the Coen Brothers' 2009 drama A Serious Man, has jumped on board.

The studio is being mum on all of the film's details, but what we do know is that Smith's Agent J has to travel back in time to 1969 to stop an alien named Boris the Biker (Jermaine Clement) from killing Brolin's Agent K before he can grow up to become Tommy Lee Jones. Stuhlbarg will play a "fast-talking Yoda type alien" character named "Griffin."

Sharlto Copley (District 9The A-Team) was rumored to be in talks for the role late last year, but a deal never materialized.

Yesterday, the first images of Smith and Brolin in character landed online. The flick also stars Emma Thompson, Alice Eve, and Rip Torn, and lands into theaters on May 25, 2012.
