Yes, you read correctly...Kate Beckinsale has been offered a starring role in her husband Len Wiseman's remake of Total Recall.

Despite the fact that he had a laundry list of actresses interested in the characters of "Lori" and "Melina," namely Jessica Biel and Diane Kruger (Inglourious Basterds), it seems Wiseman wants to keep it all in the family.

You can tell that the pair clearly enjoys working with one another—they met while filming the Underworldseries.

If she takes the role of "Lori" (which wouldn't surprise us), Beckinsale would be the wife of Douglas Quaid (played by Irish bad boy Colin Farrell—a significant change from the original's star, Arnold Schwarzenegger), a factory worker for the Euroamerica nation. Quaid eventually believes he is a spy for rival country New Shanghai after having a holiday memory implanted.

The plot thickens when he realizes he's a part of a much more ominous conspiracy, spearheaded by Euroamerica's leader, Vilos Cohaagen (Bryan Cranston). Assuming Wiseman hasn't tinkered too much with Philip K. Dick's original story, We Can Remember It For You Wholesale, the "Lori" character (originally played by Sharon Stone) could be just as villainously sexy as we remember her to be.

The California helmsman is still looking for his "Melina," though. She is a rebel who ends up aiding Quaid in his adventures. Deadline reports that Eva Mendes and Rosario Dawson are the front-runners for the role.

Total Recall begins shooting in May with an August 22, 2012 release date.
