Last summer, fans of the beloved slacker comedy Bill & Ted were excited to hear that both Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter confirmed the possibility of a third film. Not much word bubbled after that, but now Reeves tells MTV that the first draft is due for viewing sometime next month.
"The fellas [original writers Chris Matheson and Ed Solomon] went away and cooked it up," says Reeves, "but I don't know yet what happened when they put the elements together."
At the end of the last movie, 1991's Bill & Ted's Bogus Journey, the Wyld Stallyns' victory at the San Dimas Battle of the Bands saved the world. Or so we thought. Reeves explains, "When we last got together, part of it was that Bill and Ted were supposed to have written the song that saved the world and it hasn't happened. So they've now become kind of possessed by trying to do that. Then there's an element of time and they have to go back."
With the passing of George Carlin as Rufus (re-casting him would be "horrible," Winter promised last year), and with no clues as to whether we can expect appearances from the historical babes, or Death, or Station, it's anyone's guess as to what exactly we can expect.
