A Conversation with Designers Kate and Laura Mulleavy in L.A. Thursday (4/21)

The sisters behind Natalie Portman's costumes in "Black Swan" on design and couture.

None

That Kate and Laura Mulleavy are sisters lends an air of mystique to their work, something they're obviously aware of (see this double-feature the sisters programmed). People are fascinated by siblings, especially so when both are talented and work in the same field. Currently, the work of the sisters Mulleavy is being exhibited at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Los Angeles under the title Rodarte: States of Matter. (Rodarte is the fashion house the sisters founded).

Thursday the sisters will discuss the history of their work at the MOCA Pacific Design Center. Expect them to address the controversy surrounding their work on Black Swan, as well as their current exhibition and upcoming projects.
