When the console version of pro football Backbreaker released last summer, it was met with decidedly mixed reviews. The mobile version of the game, however, struck a chord with gamers and has sold a few million copies. Thus, 505 Games has announced today that Backbreaker: Vengeance will debut this summer via XBLA and will feature gameplay inspired by the “Tackle Alley” mini-game to provide “incredible euphoria animations, gut-busting collisions, deceptive juke maneuvers and a pick-up-and-play feel.” Without access to the NFL license, the devs are making an accessible football game that shows off the non-canned animation power of the Euphoria engine. If it plays like the Waterboy after he's told that H2O sucks, then count us in!
