Another Earth isn't your typical sci-fi film.
Directed by Mike Cahill, and starring the quickly rising talent Brit Marling, the film centers on a guilt-ridden student who gets out of prison and falls in love with the mourning father (William Mapother of Lost) of a kid she killed. Meanwhile, the entire world is in a state of panic thanks to the emergence of second Earth in the sky. Don’t expect alien hijinks or apocalyptic special effects to take place in this drama, which seems to touch more upon the emotional development between the two characters.
Another Earth has already garnered critical praise thanks to its Sundance Film Festival premiere in January. Fox Searchlight picked up the film and will release it on July 22.
