Type-Moon, a developer of a Japanese visual novel called Tsukihime, decided to take their talents in a new direction by creating the fighting game series Melty Blood. The games feature an orthodox 2D fighting engine that allows players to use combos, aerial attacks, and other moves to fight against each other. It's no Street Fighter IV, but it's still featured at fighting game tournaments throughout the world, so it's got some street cred to make up for its freakish name.
