According to the Guiness Book of World Records, the Kinect is the fastest-selling electronic device in history. Microsoft sold 8 million units of the motion-tracking device in the first 60 days of its release (and at least another 2 million since). Those numbers eclipse the sales figures for Apple’s iPhone and iPad during the same time frame, and in some part explain why Xbox 360 console sales were up 27% year over year for February (according to the NPD). While Kinect’s release titles were cute, entertaining, and good for showing off what the Kinect can do, we’re eager to see if the next wave of games can appeal to more hardcore gamers.
