With all of the recent news concerning Ron Howard’s in-development multi-platform adaptation of Stephen King’s epic The Dark Tower (movie followed by a TV series) novels, fans of “Gunslinger” Roland Deschain's adventures have been inspired to revisit all seven books—well, at least we have. But little did King’s loyal readers know, though, that the best news was yet to come, and it’s arrived today. On his official website, the prolific author announced an eighth installment to his beloved fantasy/horror/western story: The Dark Tower: The Wind Through The Keyhole.
Scheduled for a 2012 release, The Wind Through The Keyhole is understandably without an unveiled plot, as of now. Though, King did end his announcement with an encouraging aside: “It’s not going to change anybody’s life, but God, I had fun.” And, really, what’s more important than that? Uncle Stevie has been writing for a mind-boggling 37 years now—the guy deserves some enjoyment.
If the thought of waiting more than a year for the next Dark Tower book sounds like a living hell for King devotees, there is a silver lining to this news. Just last week, news about King’s next novel, 11/22/63. A time travel story, 11/22/63's fascinating plot involves a high school English teacher who goes back in time to the ’60s in hopes of preventing the assassination of President John F. Kennedy. 11/22/63 is set for a November 8 release.
