There have been murmurs as of late concerning what exactly Quentin Tarantino will do next, following 2009's Inglourious Basterds. But it seems that legitimate details are starting to materialize. Earlier this month, Deadline caught up with the director at The Weinstein Company's Oscar party, where he confirmed that he'd completed the first draft of a spaghetti Western script, set during slavery times in the South and with Academy Award-winning Basterds breakout Christoph Waltz attached to star.
It's a project that Tarantino has been discussing for some time now, dating back to his Basterds press rounds, when he expressed his desire to make a western, but, "Rather than set it in Texas, have it in slavery times. With that subject that everybody is afraid to deal with. Let's shine that light on ourselves. You could make a movie that would be exciting. Do it as an adventure. A spaghetti Western that takes place during that time and I would call it 'A Southern'."
Today, one of his favorite actresses has revealed that, yes, the script does exist. Hollywood Outbreak chatted with Uma Thurman (Ceremony), who told the outlet, "I think it's really exciting. It's another new story and a fresh piece of material that he is channeling at the moment."
With this being the first somewhat official confirmation that the slavery-epic he's been working on is a reality, is a "post-racial" America ready to deal with its horrible past streamed through the nonlinear lens of Quentin Tarantino? Or are you just bloodthristy for Kill Bill 3?
