You'll be hearing a lot more about the high-profile Rock of Ages project before it gets in front of cameras, so let's start with the always solid Paul Giamatti.

Deadline reports that the Win Win star, and recent Golden Globe winner for Barney's Version, will join Tom Cruise, Alec Baldwin, Mary J. Blige, and Julianna Hough in New Line's adaptation of the Broadway musical. Giamatti has signed on to play the manager of Stacee Jaxx's (Cruise) rock band; the central plots follows Sherrie (Julianna Hough), a small town girl who moves to the City of Angels with a bag full of dreams. Baldwin and Blige are set to play Justice Charlier and Dennis, the owners of the exotic dance venue the Venus Club and the ‘80s rock club The Bourbon, respectively.

The Oscar-nominated Amy Adams (The Fighter) is also being sought for the role of the journalist who profiles Jaxx, sings, and then ends up in bed with him.

Filming will begin in May, with a June 1, 2012 opening date set.
