New Pioneer Receiver Supports Apple AirPlay And iOS Apps

Pioneer's new VSX-1021 receiver makes it easy for you to play your iTunes playlists through your home theater system.

The first of eight new AirPlay-enabled receivers coming from audio company, the VSX-1021 can connect to your home network through ethernet or wi-fi. Users can then use their computer, iPhone, iPod Touch, or iPad to stream songs to the receiver by simply tapping the AirPlay icon.

In addition to the new receivers, Pioneer also announced new iOS apps, including Pioneer Air Jam which allows users to build a playlist using songs from multiple iOS devices via Bluetooth. Multiple users will be able to see the playlist and contribute to it.

Then there's the new iControlAV2 app for iPad, iPhone, and iPod Touch that will let users use their device as a remote control for the Pioneer components.

The VSX-1021 will run you $549 while the apps will cost you nothing.
