Mozilla Releases Firefox 4 For Android

Mozilla takes the wraps off its new, faster, redesigned mobile browser.

It's been a long time coming for Mozilla's Firefox 4 browser for Android. The beta version bounced around the Android Market for a few months, giving people the opportunity to play with the work-in-progress while they waited for the real thing. Well, the wait's over. 

Today, the company has taken the wraps off the final, release candidate, version of the browser and made it available for download from the Android Market. 

According to Mozilla, Firefox is up to three times faster than Android's stock browser. It attributes the speed to "major enhancements to the JavaScript engine." The user interface has also been modified to hide browser controls when not needed. 

New features bridge the gap between Firefox on Android and Firefox running on user's computers. Firefox Sync allows users to access bookmarks, browser history, and open tabs across their computers and handheld devices.
