Before the Raconteurs and the Dead Weather, there were the Greenhornes. Formed in Cincinatti, their brand of garage rock is some of the most lovingly presented and recorded since those early White Stripes records. In fact, Jack White has played a large part in this band’s career, taking the Greenhornes on tour, forming multiple bands with their members and now releasing their most recent album, Four Stars on his Third Man imprint. This is no-frills music, harking back to the slashed-speaker tones of early Kinks records and the psychedelic haze of the Nuggets series. -Finn Cohen
