It's been a long time coming for Kenan Thompson. The Saturday Night Live performer has been called back up to the majors after a long cinematic hiatus away from anything of note (2006's Snakes On A Plane doesn't count). But that's about to change, now that comedy overlord, and SNL mastermind, Lorne Michaels has bestowed Thompson with a lead role in the comedy Party Starters.
Michaels is looking to put Kenan front and center in the flick, written by Saturday Night Live scribe Bryan Tucker. No word yet in regards to plot details, but here's a guess—Thompson throws some parties. When the time comes, don't say we didn't call it. Until then, you can look out for the Atlanta, Georgia native as he takes his voice talents back to the animated world as Greedy Smurf in The Smurfs (August 3).
