Deadline reports that the show's producers claim Taymor is still involved with the project, just not on a day-to-day basis. That's a nice way to say someone wasn't cutting it and got canned.
Hoping to tighten up the widely panned script to the show, the producers have hired veteran playwright and comic book scribe Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa to do a re-write as well. In the meantime, the show's March 15 premiere date is being pushed back to early summer, marking the sixth delay the musical has faced.
While none of these changes will likely salvage the public image of this dumpster fire, Spider-Man fans can rest assured that at least the new movie is looking pretty cool.
