A year after the terrible tragedy that occured in Haiti, there's still a ton of work to be done in the Caribbean nation. That said, there are a number of people and organizations working diligently to help the country in the wake of 2010's catastrophic earthquake. One of those people is Luke Renner.
Renner and his Fireside International organization have started the Caribbean Institute for Media Technologies (CIMT) to teach Haitians multimedia journalism in an attempt to educate “Haiti’s next generation of journalists, filmmakers, authors, and spokespeople.”
To help out, the school has received 11 pre-owned Power PC-powered Apple Mac Pros, along with a large collection of Rosetta Stone language software. And here lies the problem. The software can only run on Intel-powered Macs. If CIMT can raise enough money or get 11 new or used Intel-powered Mac computers, they can launch their program, and use the old PPC Macs in an additional educational center they plan on building.
