Pull yourself off the beach for an evening for the Hawaiian capital's monthly free party.

At the beginning of each month, Complex takes a look at five cool "First Friday" parties happening around the country. If you're way, way out west this week, be sure to check out the party in Hawaii's capital.

Wine tastings, gallery hopping, and boutiques that turn their music way up, the scene in Chinatown, Honolulu's downtown district, gets live at 5 p.m. every first Friday of the month. When shops and galleries begin to close up around 9, the party goes to the bars where there are drink specials galore. The Manifest, Bar 35, Bamboo Two Cafe and Martini Lounge, and a spot called Soho all spill into one another, which of course causes people to spill their drinks into one each other. This month, the Chinatown Boardroom — half surf boutique, half art gallery — is featuring a special exhibit of custom surfboards and lowbrow art by artists from the island and around the world. —Jozen Cummings (@jozenc)
