More double feature action this week in Boston. Somerville Theatre presents two quintessential '80s action flicks. Before James Cameron was reinventing 3D, and before Arnold Schwarzenegger was the governor of California, they teamed up for The Terminator (1984), an ultraviolent tale that imagines a future run by machines. A terminator cyborg (Schwarzenegger) from 2029 is sent back in time to 1984 to kill a woman (Linda Hamilton) who will one day give birth to a man who can change the course of humanity’s future. Much shooting and destruction of property ensues. RoboCop(1987) also focuses on an American future where technology merges human emotions with mechanical power. After a Detroit cop is terminally wounded in a shootout, he is brought back to life as RoboCop, whose armor and weaponry can clean up the town but can’t hide his humanity.
