If you're a baseball or basketball fan, your Apple TV just got a lot more awesome. Thanks to a software update released today, users can now watch live MLB and NBA games through the little set-top box.

To catch all the baseball action, users will need a subscription to MLB.TV, which is available for $20/month ($100/year), or $25/month ($120/year). Hoops fans will need to subscribe to NBA's League Pass Video service which runs $65/season to watch up to seven teams, or $100/season to watch every team's games.

Both services offer HD quality streams of live and archived games, with easy access to scores and stats.

The new update also includes a redesigned onscreen keyboard, Dolby 5.1 sound for Netflix streaming, and new photo slideshow transitions.

Like we said, your Apple TV just got a lot more awesome.
