With 2008's entertaining and inventive JCVD, Jean Claude Van Damme lampooned himself quite effectively, revealing a surprising amount of depth. It's not like he had much of a choice, though; from straight-to-video snoozers to C-grade theatrical releases, the Muscles from Brussels' career has existed solely because of his fighting skills. The best way to watch any of his films is simple: Play an action scene, fast forward through any exposition, play the next action scene, and continue this process until the final credits roll. Anything else would be self-damaging.
