HP's line of professional notebooks today got a hefty update centered around Intel's newest generation of Core processors. Both the 14-inch 8460p (starting at $999) and the 15.6-inch 8560p (starting at $1099) can be outfitted with Intel's Core i3, Core i5, or Core i7 processors, AMD's Radeon HD 6470M graphics card for faster video, HSPA+ 3G, and a 750GB hard drive or a 160GB solid-state drive (SSD).
Here's where things get wild. When you pair the 160GB SSD with HP's new extra-high capacity battery, and ditch the Radeon graphics chip for Intel's onboard graphics, you can squeeze 32 hours of battery life from the EliteBooks. Yes, you read that correctly—32 hours!
If HP is to be believed, you could fly to Beijing from NYC and back without having to recharge your computer. That's completely unheard of. If you're still not impressed, here's a little comparison: Apple's iPad can get up to 10 hours on a full charge. Aight, so they're not the most attractive laptops, and they're hawked toward the corporate world, but you can't front on that battery life. Both models are available now at hp.com.
