So rumor has it that a new Gears of War game is on its way for Microsoft's Kinect. Before you panic, this isn’t Gears of War 3, as Epic Games has already put the kibosh on Kinect support for that one. Sources instead are indicating that the Kinect game will be an on-rails shooter; Epic's design director, Cliff Bleszinski, reacted to the rumor on Twitter in suitable Cliffy B. fashion:

Epic Games filed a trademark for the name Gear of Wars: Exile earlier this year, which may be the name for this new game. It’s easy to react to an on-rails shooter with disdain and contempt, but so far we haven’t really seen what the Kinect can do in a more "hardcore" application. It’s probably a good bet that a Kinect Gears of War game is meant to entice a broader audience to the new peripheral, but nothing'll shut up naysayers quicker than a kick-ass game. Your move, Epic!
