Everything You Need To Know About DC's "Flashpoint" Series

Everyone knows Superman and Batman, but there are a lot of casual comic fans who couldn't name another character on the DC Comics roster if they had to in order to save the planet. That's why, over the past couple of years, the comic company has made it their mission to familiarize those readers with lesser known characters. It started with a renaissance for the Green Lantern, in 2004, and recently, there has been a focus on the Flash. 2009 saw the Silver Age Flash, Barry Allen, return from the dead and now DC is making him the focal point of a company-wide crossover storyline called Flashpoint, written by Geoff Johns with art by Andy Kubert.

While not much information has been released about Flashpoint thus far, it is obvious that the story will deal with an alternate reality where the DC heroes never donned their tights. Fans can collect Flashpoint in a five-issue miniseries starting in May, but DC is also releasing 15 short miniseries to fill out the story and further explore the Flashpoint world. While these ancillary books aren’t necessary if you want to follow Flashpoint they do enrich the story as a whole.

Flashpoint should be one of the largest and most engrossing comic events of the year. While it doesn’t start till May, fans of the Flash should pick up Flash: The Dastardly Death of the Rogues on sale this Wednesday in order to familiarize themselves with the world of the Flash before the big event.

Here is a list of 14 of the 15 miniseries that DC will be releasing along with Flashpoint. Each miniseries is three issues long and is placed under a subheading dealing with what portion of the Flashpoint world that the story falls under.
