We can't figure out how porn stars make any money with all you dirty scoundrels exchanging sweaty torrent files all day, but we do have a theory for why p2p music sharing has plummeted all the way down to, gasp, book levels.
It's the blogs, of course. Legitimized streaming has helped, too, but as far as music goes, the blogosphere is pretty much the new peer network. In the time it takes to track down a non-phony, non-virus-riddled album torrent and fire up Vuze, you could have a dozen zip files prefaced with pithy commentary from a google blog search. Not that we encourage that sort of thing, of course.
As for the porn industry, they need more friends in Homeland Security.
