Shelled out $150 for a Kinect last Christmas and wound up emulating Lady Gaga music videos? Turns out with a little hacking savvy the motion capture peripheral can shoot videos of its own—and they look a lot cooler than your gyrating avatar.

Dan Nixon, a UK filmmaker, opened up his Kinect and used its image data to produce a music video for the British hard rock band Echo Lake's single "Young Silence." The song, we can't defend. But the visuals are cool! The colorful 3D silhouettes evoke Radiohead's much, much, much pricier "House of Cards" clip from '08.

If you bought a PlayStation Move, on the otherhand, we can't help you.
