#17: MYKELTI WILLIAMSON AS BENJAMIN BUFORD “BUBBA” BLUE IN FORREST GUMP (1994)
It takes a special kind of guy to complement a simpleton like Forrest Gump. If “stupid is as stupid does,” then it’s downright idiotic to recite every type of shrimp cuisine, yet that’s what makes Bubba so damn endearing. The man loves his crustaceans, and in Forrest he finds a potential business partner who’s on the same hardly-there mental playing field. Unlike Tom Hanks’ character, though, Bubba’s also an exaggerated stereotype; Williamson wore a lip attachment to give Bubba a protruding lip. Think about that the next time you’re clogging your arteries with some chicken fried steak at the nearest Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.
